Probiotic cleaner A probiotic cleaner is a combination of a traditional cleaner and probiotics. Probiotics consist of specific non-harmful bacteria. These bacteria are present as endospores: they are activated when the cleaner is diluted with water. The bacteria then start producing enzymes that help break down dirt. This dirt also serves as a breeding ground to help increase the population of good bacteria. In other words: these good bacteria continue to do their job even after you've cleaned, and that makes it much harder for limescale to adhere to the dirt.
