BOMA and Sustainability: Social engagement
In the coming weeks, we'll take you on a journey through sustainability, exploring each of the four pillars of our sustainability policy. This week's focus: Social engagement.
BOMA is a steadily growing company with a family-oriented culture. Our team members, the 'Bomitos', are positive, committed, and efficient. We are committed to their development, from their first day on the job all the way to retirement. Thanks to high retention rates, we create and maintain short, familiar lines of communication with our stakeholders. We integrate individuals with limited qualifications into the workforce by sharing knowledge through hands-on training. In doing so, we help bring the often somewhat misunderstood cleaning sector out of the shadows and into the spotlight.
Training and development
We help our Bomitos grow with the company and build the skills they need to succeed. In order to stay at the forefront of industry knowledge, our BOMA Academy provides internal and external training courses led by highly experienced professionals. Training courses can also be taken online thanks to our wide range of online options. We look for management trainees who are able to gain hands-on experience in a variety of areas. We train our managers to become competent coaches. We also regularly offer internships to help students acquire practical experience.
Diversity
We believe diversity brings value. People who are more distanced from the job market also have a place in our company. At our distribution center, we work with Werminval, a company specializing in adapted work, where we consistently assign tasks that are accessible to everyone. With Emino, we offer time and space for on-the-job learning in collaboration with a professional coach. We pursue promotes gender equality and actively monitor our progress as part of our ongoing social dialog.
Health and wellness
BOMA is committed to providing a healthy workplace by focusing on both physical and mental well-being. BOMActive, our internal working group, is designed to promote a positive working environment. They organize sports competitions, and offer advice on healthy eating and workplace ergonomics. Safety and prevention are both prioritized from day one When building our product line up, our Sustainability Manager ensures that each item is assessed for its impact on both people and the planet.
Strong initiatives
At BOMA, we are deeply committed to making a positive impact, not only through our resources and services, but also through strong commitments. BOMA is a partner of River Cleanup. Together, we roll up our sleeves! Why River Cleanup? Because directly contributing to a better living environment is extremely important to us! Did you know that 8 billion kilograms of waste end up in our oceans every year? Of that, 80% comes from rivers. Every River Cleanup action is aimed at raising awareness about waste prevention.
Sustainable partnerships
What we call 'OneZero' refers to ongoing development with the ultimate aim of becoming the go-to facility supplier for our customers by offering ONE single solution, with WITHOUT ANY negative impact. To bring this ambition to life, BOMA works to build long-term partnerships with its manufacturers and suppliers, based on a commitment to 'People, Planet and Profit'.
