BOMA signs a Green Deal for sustainable healthcare
The Green Deal Duurzame Zorg 3.0, a Dutch initiative aimed at making the healthcare sector more sustainable, has been launched. On December 8, Guus Nieuwlaat, Country Director of BOMA Nederland (BOMA's Dutch subsidiary), signed the agreement together with various stakeholders from the sector.
BOMA's commitment
As a supplier for the cleaning industry, BOMA believes cleaning should be sustainable. The cleaning of today should not lead to the pollution of tomorrow.
BOMA is a solution-oriented company with employees who are positive, committed and hands-on, making cleaning simple, smart and fun. As an innovative organisation, we are evolving towards a circular approach under the name OneZero: as a total supplier, we aim for zero emissions.
BOMA is committed to CO2 reduction, circular working, reducing pharmaceutical residues in water and creating healthy living and working environments. Together with our customers, we aim to make the healthcare sector more sustainable, with impact on people, planet and the entire supply chain.
We achieve this impact by:

- providing a sustainable product range and tailored sustainability reporting
- offering training and advice to everyone involved in the cleaning process
Practical examples
We continue to innovate our cleaning solutions and assess their impact across the entire lifecycle within the supply chain. BOMA promotes energy-efficient machines with low water consumption. By using machines and robots, cleaning can be done with minimal or even no chemicals.
Preventive maintenance and repairs, preferably through a maintenance contract, help extend the lifespan of the machine fleet. With BiP, you can manage and optimise your equipment to ensure the right machines are used.
We promote circular working by applying the R-model. Our primary focus is on reducing resources, materials and packaging. In addition to robots, we also offer UV technology for fast, preventive disinfection without chemicals. This means less transport, less waste and no impact on aquatic life.
To make a positive contribution, we support initiatives such as River Cleanup. Every year, an estimated 8 billion kilograms of waste ends up in our oceans, 80% of which originates from rivers. Local clean-up actions and raising awareness are essential to tackle litter.
What started as an individual initiative has grown into a movement of more than 100,000 people worldwide. BOMA also contributes, together with its employees and customers.
